What Is the BWA Expo?
The BWA Expo is an information exchange and networking event for professional communicators along the Colorado Front Range. It will be held on the mezzanine of the historic Hotel Boulderado in downtown Boulder, Colorado, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, from 6-9 p.m. The Expo includes:
- Discussion tables with local experts who focus on specific topics of interest to communications professionals. Spend some time face-to-face with experts who can answer your questions and teach you something new.
- Appetizers and cash bar. Reconnect with colleagues and meet new people in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
- Book Exchange. BWA will offer its traditional book exchange table – bring a book to share and take home a different book. This is a great way to build your library.
- Resume Exchange. Bring your resume, business cards, and any literature about your business or profession. There will be a table where you can leave a copy of your resume
and pick up some information about your fellow communicators.
Who Are the Experts?
BWA will offer discussion tables hosted by members and invited guests who are recognized experts in a particular subject area. These discussion tables provide the opportunity for interactive discussions between Expo attendees and experts in fields in which they are interested. Proposed topics for the discussion tables include creative writing, website development, e-books, publishing, e-learning and instructional design, usability, graphics, marketing, and public relations. Who Should Attend?
- BWA members, their clients, and their guests
- Local communications professionals interested in networking and gathering information on tools and services
- Representatives of local businesses, colleges, and government organizations looking for information, innovations, and resources that will help them attain their communications objectives
Admission is free
for BWA members and students; $5 for the general public.

Is the BWA Expo the Same as the BWA Showcase?
Starting in 1998, the Boulder Writers Alliance traditionally held an annual Writers Showcase for members to get together and display their work. In 2005 the event evolved into something a bit different: the BWA Expo. The core elements remain the same: a chance to socialize and exchange information with other communications professionals!
